On January 18, 2020 I traveled to Sumter, South Carolina to capture the beautiful wedding day of Dominique and Tarra. The ceremony took place at First Baptist Missionary Church and the reception was held at the Sumter County Civic Center.
The love story of Dominique and Tarra began years ago. They grew up together but did not really know each other. This all changed when Dominique ran into Tarra on the Carolina campus. After that day they stayed in constant contact. One day, Tarra was wanting to catch a movie and Dominique went with her so she didn’t have to go alone (he is such a gentleman). It wasn’t until later on when Tarra realized that Dominique thought they were on a date. After the movie they enjoyed a meal at Applebee’s together. On December 20, 2018 Dominique decided to ask Tarra to spend the rest of her life with him. He planned on proposing on Christmas but he couldn’t wait any longer. They made plans for dinner together and he ordered Chinese takeout (one of their favorites). The plan was for him to wait until after dinner to propose but he was so hot and sweaty, Tarra started to notice. Dominique kept jokingly asking her if she loved him, and she said of course! He said “Well come on then!”
He got down on one knee and said to her that he was so grateful to God for putting her in his life, and that nothing would make him happier than for Tarra to be his wife. Tears filled Tarra’s eyes as she said, “Yeah, whatever man.” (The Best Man is another one of their favorites). They held each other and cried for what felt like over an hour.
Dominique and Tarra’s wedding day couldn’t have been more beautiful. The weather was gorgeous! It wasn’t too cold or too hot. I arrived at Tarra’s sister’s lovely home! I walked into the smell of hot breakfast cooking and music playing. Tarra was sipping on a mimosa and having her makeup done. One by one, each of the girls were getting ready and finally it was time for Tarra to be revealed in her wedding gown for the first time! Her bridesmaids’ reactions were everything a bride could ask for. They hugged and kissed Tarra and left to head to the church.
Dominique and his fellas got ready at Hyatt Hotel in downtown Sumter. They were all hanging out listening to music and getting ready. Dominique had a custom hunter green suit made for the day. He was so calm and ready to marry Tarra! He couldn’t wait to head to the church with his guys.
All the guests had arrived at the church and ceremony began. One by one parents, bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle. It was time for Tarra to walk down the aisle and you could see the excitement in the room. The church doors opened and there she stood looking as beautiful as ever. Dominique was filled with emotion as his bride walked towards him. He hugged Tarra’s father as he put Tarra’s hand in his. They shared vows, exchanged the rings, and had their first kiss as man and wife. After their first kiss they presented their moms and Dominique’s grandmother with beautiful roses. Once the couple was ready to walk down the aisle they had to hop over the broom (Which was so cute)!
After the ceremony, we went to the Sumter County Civic Center to kick off their celebration. Dominique and Tarra were greeted by family and friends! All of the guests were thrilled to see the happy couple. The food was served, toasts were given, and the cake was cut. They spent the rest of the evening dancing and mingling with their guests. We sent the new Mr. and Mrs. Hilton off with a glowing, glowstick exit!
A few words for the bride & groom: Dominique and Tarra you are a special couple! After photographing your wedding day, there is no doubt the amount of genuine love between you. From the moment we met, you made me feel like family and so welcomed. I am incredibly happy for the two of you and cannot wait to see what the future holds. Working with you two on your wedding day was an absolute pleasure. I feel so humbled and blessed that I was given the opportunity to connect with you two and watch you start the next chapter in your lives. I wish nothing but the absolute best and many blessings in your marriage!
