I wrapped up my 2019 wedding season capturing Alex & Kathy’s wedding day. The ceremony took place in a quaint, little church located in Bishopville, SC. I arrived to find Alex hanging out with his brother in the church. I began taking photos of him getting ready, and getting to know their story.
Alex & Kathy share a passion for karate which is what brought them together. I enjoyed hearing all about how they met and the events that led to their wedding day.
Kathy and her mother arrived at the church to start getting ready for the ceremony. I grabbed a few detail photos and then it was time to do a first look with Kathy’s dad. His reaction of seeing his only little girl in her wedding gown was so sweet. He only got choked up a little and then started joking with Kathy. They smiled and hugged as they took in the moment.
Kathy and Alex invited only family to the ceremony to make it more private. Alex’s reaction watching Kathy walk down the aisle was like watching time stop. He shed only a few tears but, in that moment, you could see all the love he had for her. They reached for each other’s hands as they said their vows to one another. The rings were exchanged and the commitment they made to one another was sealed with a kiss.
They asked all of their guests to celebrate with them at the Bishopville Masonic Lodge. They had a lovely tea party themed reception! This was such a cute personal touch to their day. After their guests enjoyed the tea party food, Alex & Kathy had a unity ceremony. They each had a glass of M&M’s that were different colors. They poured their glasses in at the same time to represent them joining together. After the unity ceremony they asked two people who were important to them to read a scripture out of the Bible. Kathy wanted to make sure the kids that attended their wedding had fun. Instead of doing the traditional bouquet/garter toss, they tossed little stuff animals to the kids. I thought this was so adorable!
As their reception came to an end, we sent the newlyweds off with a bubble exit! They laughed, kissed, and said their goodbyes as they drove off into their future together.
